In October last year, Eubank broke the fight against compatriot welterweight Conor Benn – he was caught on the use of illegal drugs.
Chris and Conor – the sons of legendary local champions Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn – were supposed to fight at the contractual weight, but the event had to be cancelled.
The Eubanks began looking for a new opponent. They opted for the former world champion in the division below Smith.
Interestingly, at the pre-match press conference, the fighters were so carried away by the showdown that they had to intervene British Boxing Council – underdog Smith allowed himself homophobic jokes and the opponent’s address.

Riakpore is the owner of a very underestimated record. It was he who inflicted debut defeats on compatriots Sam HydeJack Massey, Chris Billam-Smith and Deyonu Juma. He also defeated Tommy McCarthy, Olanrevaja Durodola and Fabio Turchi. This year, the fighter plans to enter the title fight.
Głowacki took the WBO belt from Marko Hook in 2015, defended against Stephen Cunningham, and then lost to mandatory challenger and future division hegemon Oleksandr Usyk.
In 2018 as part of the second season World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) in the ¼ finals, Glowacki defeated Maxim Vlasov and took the title of interim WBO champion. Later he was transferred to full-fledged champions, but with a scandal (elbow strike) he lost in the semifinals to Mairis Briedis.
The WBO gave the fighter another title chance, but he did not take advantage of it – he lost ahead of schedule to Lawrence Okoli.
In 2016, Parker fought Andy Ruiz Jr. for the vacant WBO title. The fight was equal, and the victory went to the owner of the ring – a New Zealander.
After a couple of defenses, Parker went into a unification fight with WBA Super/IBF champion Anthony Joshua and suffered his debut defeat. Then he lost to Dillian Whyte on a thin one.
After a series of intermediate fights, he boxed twice in a row with veteran Derek Chisora (two wins on points), and then lost by knockout to Joe Joyce – the title of interim WBO champion was at stake.
Massey has never competed in the heavyweight division before. After losing a prospective clash to Riakpore, he took the vacant IBO (minor version) world title against Bilal Laggun. There are no other recognizable boxers on his track record.
