Elijah Topuria turned to Alex Volkanovski

The new UFC featherweight champion, Elijah Topuria, has addressed words of gratitude to his opponent, Aleksander Volkanovski, from whom he took the title away this past weekend.

“Thank you Wolf – you were a very difficult opponent who made me a better person,” Topuria wrote on social media. “It was an honor to share the octagon with you!”

The Spanish-Georgian fighter also found some motivational words for his fans.

“A lot of people will say, you can’t do it – they shoot you down and let you doubt yourself. But remember, it only takes yourself to achieve something. Believe in yourself, work tirelessly, and everything will come.”

“It doesn’t matter where you came from, as long as you know where you’re going, and what lies ahead is far more important than what’s left behind. Never give up! Just stand and fight!”

As a reminder, the featherweight title fight headlining UFC 298 in Anaheim ended in the second round with a knockout victory for Elijah Topuria.
