Elijah Topuria has ruled out Alex Volkanovski’s participation in the UFC 300 tournament

UFC featherweight title challenger, Elijah Topuria, is confident that the division’s current champion, Alex Volkanovski, will not be able to headline the UFC 300 anniversary tournament after his bout with him.

“Like I said, maybe I can save the UFC 300 tournament,” Volkanovski said at the pre-fight press conference.

“You’re not going to make it – you’ll still be recovering in the hospital. You can believe me,” Topuria replied.

Volkanovski previously told reporters that after successfully defending his championship belt, he could return to the octagon in less than two months to headline UFC 300, which takes place April 13 in Las Vegas and is still without a main event.

As a reminder, a featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Elijah Topuria will headline UFC 298, which takes place Feb. 17 in Anaheim.
