Eduard Vartanyan: “I don’t think Khabib is talented”

Eduard Vartanyan:

ACA lightweight grand prix finalist Eduard Vartanyan doesn’t believe his compatriot Khabib Nurmagomedov once became the best fighter in the UFC regardless of weight category due to his talent.

“I don’t think Khabib is talented,” the Russian fighter said in an interview. “Vestnik MMA”. “He is extremely disciplined, he is very hardworking and he has a strong mental component, but I would not call it talent. But Jon Jones is a 100% talent. A person may not train at all, go out and win. He said he only had three sparring sessions before the Gan fight and it’s unlikely he’s cheating.”

In October 2020, Khabib Nurmagomedov displaced Jon Jones from the first line of the P4P UFC rating, having dealt with Justin Gaethje in a unification fight, and last weekend the American won the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt by finishing Cyril Gan, and again became the organization’s best fighter outside depending on weight.

At the same time, Islam Makhachev, who occupied the second line in the pound-for-pound rating, gave way to Alexander Volkanovski, dropping to the third position.
