Dustin Puryear’s fight at UFC 299 has been canceled

Former interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin Porye, has announced the cancellation of his fight against Benoit Saint-Denis, which was scheduled to take place on March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami.

“My fight is canceled but I’m still working,” the American wrote on social media, posting a photo from the gym.

That said, the Frenchman claims he is still going to participate in the numbered event.

“Guys, stay calm. I’m counting the days until UFC 299,” Saint-Denis wrote to concerned fans.

UFC officials have not yet commented on the information.

Dustin Porier, 34, last stepped into the octagon last July, losing by second-round knockout to Justin Gaethje in a challenger’s bout.

Benoit St. Denis, 28, is riding a streak of five early wins in the UFC, knocking out Matt Frevola in his last fight as early as the first round.

Dustin Porier and Benoit Saint-Denis are currently ranked third and eleventh in the UFC lightweight rankings, respectively.
