Dustin Porier has spoken out about ending his career

Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Puryear, who is set to face Benoit Saint-Denis in a week’s time, has not ruled out that a fight with the French prospect could be the last fight of his professional career.

“I agreed to fight him to really test myself, to see if I still have the strength,” the American told TMZ Sports. “This guy is young, hungry, going on an impressive winning streak, having finished his last five opponents – it makes me nervous because I want to throw myself into that fire.”

“It’s fights like this that I feel like I’m doing my best work, these are the kind of opponents I want to fight – guys who leave everything they have in the octagon and fight for an early finish.”

“Yeah, every next fight could be my last. I’m 35 years old now, and this will be my thirtieth fight in the UFC – it could be my last.”

As a reminder, the five-round lightweight bout between Dustin Porier and Benoit Saint-Denis will be the second main event of UFC 299, which takes place March 9 in Miami.
