Dustin Porier has announced a new plan for his next fight

Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Porier, who announced his move to the welterweight division following his loss to Justin Gaethje, has decided to stick around in his division to complete a trilogy with his compatriot.

“Need to get back as soon as possible,” the American wrote on social media. “Our score with Justin is 1-1, let’s complete the trilogy in New Orleans. I had the first fight on his turf, let the third take place in my backyard”

On July 29 at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City, Justin Gaethje knocked out Dustin Porier with a leg kick to the head in the second round, becoming the BMF titleholder and prime candidate to fight the winner of the title fight between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira. In doing so, “Highlight” rematched a five-year old defeat when he lost to “Diamond” by technical knockout in the fourth round.

Note that there are currently no events scheduled to take place in New Orleans on the organization’s calendar, but it looks like one or two tournaments for November-December will still be announced.
