Dustin Porier has agreed to fight Islam Makhachev

Reigning UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski wasn’t the only fighter who could replace the injured Charles Oliveira in a title fight against Islam Makhachev.

According to Dustin Puryear, the UFC’s third-ranked lightweight, representatives of the organization contacted him and asked if he would be willing to accept a fight with the champion on ten days notice.

“They called and I said ‘yes’,” the American wrote on social media in response to a fan’s relevant question.

Earlier, UFC head Dana White officially announced the fight between Islam Makhachev and Alex Volkanovski, which was scheduled after the Brazilian was injured and pulled out of the UFC 294 event.

Recall that the next numbered event of the strongest league in the world will be held on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.
