A day after being discharged from the hospital, former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier found himself on the operating table.
This was announced on social networks by the wife of an American fighter.
“For those who asked about Dustin’s leg… He has a severe staph infection that started on Saturday – he didn’t respond to oral antibiotics and couldn’t walk,” wrote Jolie Poirier. “On Sunday, we arrived at the emergency room and were hospitalized. We were discharged on Wednesday, but after the second MRI, it turned out that there was an abscess that needed to be drained. So he’s back in the hospital for surgery.”
Later, she said that the operation was successful, and then the fighter himself made a statement, turning to potential rivals.
“Anyone who says sh*t and kicks me when I fall, know this is a cowardly move. I’ll deal with everyone. Diamond,” wrote the American, posting a postoperative photo.
Dustin Poirier last fought on November 12 at UFC 281 in New York, finishing with a rear naked choke in the third round of his compatriot Michael Chandler.
