Dricus Du Plessis replied to Khamzat Chimaev

UFC middleweight title challenger, Dricus Du Plessis, who is set to share the octagon with Sean Strickland in a week’s time, did not ignore a statement from Hamzat Chimaev, who said he will face the winner of the title fight.

“As far as I know, Hamzat is a welterweight – which middleweight has he fought?” the South African was quoted as saying by MMAJunkie. “In my opinion, this fight doesn’t make any sense. The UFC promised him a title fight? How is that even possible? And he says he’s going to fight Sean Strickland. No, that’s not gonna happen. I’m going to be champion, and you’re not going to get a title shot!”

A few days earlier, the Chechen fighter stated the following:

“Now Strickland will fight Du Plessis – if he wins, we will fight, one hundred percent. They promised me this fight. We just have to wait to see which one of them wins and take the championship belt from him.”

Last October at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, Borz won a three-round majority decision over Kamaru Usman, but was forced to concede his title shot to Du Plessis due to an injury sustained in the fight and subsequent illness.

As a reminder, the middleweight title fight between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis will be the main event of UFC 297, which takes place on January 20 in Toronto, Canada.
