Donald Trump spoke out about Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev

Former US President Donald Trump, who is a big fan of boxing and mixed martial arts, would like to see the return to professional sports of Khabib Nurmagomedov, who announced his retirement almost three years ago.

“Khabib was great and it looks like he’s not coming back,” Trump told the UFC Unfiltered podcast. “Recently I said to Dana White, ‘Where is Khabib? You must return it!’ He really was a very serious fighter. His father died, it affected him, but Khabib was just a fantastic fighter.”

The current UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, was mentioned by the billionaire in the context of his confrontation with Alexander Volkanovski, whom the Russian defeated by unanimous decision in February of this year.

“Alexander Volkanovski is cool – although he was defeated in the previous fight, many people believe that he did not lose this fight. Many are sure that he did not lose to Makhachev. Alexander looked really good in this fight, and it’s one of those decisions that, like some decisions in boxing, I can call terrible. These things are harmful to the sport.”

Recall that Islam Makhachev will hold his next title defense on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, and the Brazilian Charles Oliveira will face the Russian fighter.
