Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) stated that the tactics of his Mexican rival Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs), which consisted of inflicting strong blows on the hands in order to tie up attacking actions, did not bring the desired result for him in their last match.

Recall that on the night of May 7-8, Bivol successfully defended the WBA Super light heavyweight title (up to 79.4 kg), defeating Alvarez on points.

“It’s a good trick, yes, hitting the arm. However, you cannot knock out a hand. And it does not give you points, Bivol emphasized. – It hurts, but not too much. I could still throw the jab. Of course, it was a little more difficult, but still I could do it.”

“I also tried not to be predictable,” Dmitry says. “I tried to make sure he didn’t read me. Sometimes he came at me at the ropes, and I did not reciprocate. Sometimes, when he beat me, I tried to respond in kind, because he did not expect it. It helped me stay unreadable.”
