The Russian WBA Super light heavyweight champion (up to 79.4 kg) Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) admitted that the confrontation with the Mexican Canelo Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) no longer causes him as much interest as he had before their first fight in May of this year.

Recall that Bivol defeated Alvarez on points, and if Dmitry manages to defend the title on November 5 in a fight against Gilberto Ramirez, a rematch between Bivol and Canelo is planned in May 2023.

“Any champion wants a rematch, and for him (Alvarez) this is a normal desire,” Bivol said. – Of course, it would be better for me to move on, but we can talk about a rematch. Although he no longer interests me as much as before.

According to the Russian, the re-fight is less interesting for him, because he has already defeated Alvarez.

At the same time, this does not give him confidence that he will beat Canelo even more confidently on the second try:

“I dont know. Don’t know. This will be a different fight. Everything will be different, so we’ll see.”

Meanwhile, the promoter has revealed Canelo’s immediate goals – not just a rematch with Bivol.
