Former heavyweight title contender Briton Dillian Whyte (28-3, 19 KOs) has expressed a desire to have a rematch with compatriot Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) in December of this year if he fails to agree on a megafight with WBC title holder Tyson Fury.
“He’s getting ready to fight, he’s ready to get in the ring against Fury. So if this fight doesn’t materialize, then I’ll go out and fight Joshua,” White said.
Recall that Dillian and Anthony fought in December 2015, when Joshua was not yet a world champion. At the beginning of the fight, White managed to shock the favorite, but in the end, Joshua won TKO 7. At the same time, Dillian defeated AJ in the amateurs.
White, who suffered an early defeat from Fury in April of this year, doubts that something will work out with the fight between Tyson and Joshua: “Fury is applying pressure, trying to use social networks and acting stupid. Big fights take time. It’s not as easy as “Sign the contract, you bum.” It doesn’t work like that. But a lot of people just listen to what Fury has to say.”
