UFC Fight Night 199 main event
The fight will take place on December 19 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex complex and will become the main event of the UFC Fight Night 199 tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 04:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
An intriguing heavyweight showdown will headline the final UFC event in 2021. Two pronounced punchers will meet in the cage – #3 UFC rating Derrick Lewis (28-8, 1 NC) and #7 rating Chris Dokos (12-3).
UFC record holder for the number of knockout wins (12) Lewis will return after a one-sided defeat. In August at UFC 265, he was stopped by punches in the 3rd round by Cyril Gan, who won the interim heavyweight championship belt. Lewis entered this fight while on a series of four victories – the Black Beast defeated Curtis Blades, Alexei Oleinik, Ilir Latifi and Blagoy Ivanov.
Dokos suffered all three of his defeats before joining the UFC, Chris only won in the octagon, and only by KO or TKO. From August 2020 to September 2021, he stopped Parker Porter, Rodrigo Nascimenta, Alexey Oleinik and Shamil Abdurahimov. The first three did not even last a round, and Abdurahimov was knocked out in the first half of the second round.
Prediction for the fight
Lewis and Dokos are accustomed to fighting in a standing position, aiming at the opponent’s head. It is unlikely that they will change their plan. Each of them can cut down an opponent at any time, and the chances of this are approximately equal.
Dokos is a less worn out fighter and he is a more active fighter in the cage than Lewis. However, Derrick has a lot of experience on his side, Lewis knows how to wait and can deliver a decisive blow at the most unexpected moment for the enemy. It is difficult to make a choice in this pair, but we prefer the more prudent Lewis.
