The head of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, questioned the adequacy of the decision of his star lightweight Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) after the puncher’s decision to go straight to the megafight in the spring against Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 15 KOs) – without any – a warm-up fight.
Ryan was originally supposed to fight Mercito Gesta on January 21, but the Californian recently said that he was not interested in this fight, and he would just wait for the April fight with Davis. Meanwhile, Gervonta will face Hector Luis Garcia on January 7 (16-0, 10 KOs).
