WBA World lightweight champion American puncher Gervonta Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) set a record for Capital One Arena in Washington (USA), where he beat Dominican Hector Luis Garcia (16-1, 10 KOs) over the weekend.

The organizers of the show earned 5 million USD from the sale of entrance tickets, which is a record figure for this arena. In the previous fight of Davis (in the arena Barclays Center in New York against Rolando Romero) tickets were sold for 4 million USD.

AT Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn has announced a new date for a potential candidate for the fight of the year – the previously postponed fight for the WBA featherweight title (up to 57.2 kg) between British Lee Wood (26-2, 16 KOs) and Mexican Mauricio Lara (25-2-1 , 18 KOs) will be held on February 18 at Nottingham Arena (Nottingham, UK).

This fight made it to our ranking of the most anticipated fights of 2023: top 20.

Yesterday, the WBO officially called on the Japanese Kazuto Ioku (29-2-1, 15 KOs) and Junto Nakatani (24-0, 18 KOs) to start negotiations. The parties have 30 days to agree amicably and avoid promotional bidding.

At stake is the organization’s belt in the second flyweight (up to 52.2 kg), which is owned by the only conqueror of the four Ioka divisions in Japanese history. Former divisional champion Nakatani is coming into the fight as a mandatory challenger.

Super lightweights (up to 63.5 kg) Jeremias Ponce (30-0, 20 KOs) from Argentina and Subriel Matias (18-1, 18 KOs) from Puerto Rico will meet on February 25 in Minneapolis (USA) and play for the vacant belt of the world champion in IBF versions.

An interesting duel of the local level will take place in Britain. On April 29 in Telford, the EBU European champion in the second bantamweight (up to 55.3 kg) Briton Liam Davis (13-0, 5 KOs) will fight with seasoned compatriot Jason Cunningham (31-7, 7 KOs).

One of the brightest prospects in Britain, a super lightweight fighter (up to 63.5 kg)
Adam Azim (7-0, 6 KOs) will act as a headliner — February 11 at Wembley Arena (London, England) will fight an unbeaten Nicaraguan
Santos Reyes (12-0, 3 KOs).

A promising British woman will perform as part of the show
Caroline Dubois (5-0, 4 KOs). She will also increase the level of opposition – in the light weight limit (up to 61.2 kg) she will fight with
Yamila Abellaneda (15-5-1, 3 KOs) from Argentina.

Rumor has it that in March in Montreal (Canada) the WBC super middleweight eliminator (up to 76.2 kg) will take place: two top contenders of the division, Frenchman Christian Mbilli (23-0, 20 KOs) and Ecuadorian Carlos Gongora (21 -1, 16 KOs).

First, the fight (with Mbilli) was offered to Kazakhstani Ali Akhmedov (19-1, 14 KOs), but he never signed the contract.

Mbilli and Gongora are ranked 8th and 9th respectively in division ranking according to vRINGe.
