Daniel Cormier supported Conor McGregor’s decision

Conor McGregor made the right decision by going back to his original plan to fight Michael Chandler and abandoning the idea of sharing the octagon with Justin Gaethje in his next fight, former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier is confident.

“While it’s an interesting fight, I think it’s a much more dangerous fight for Conor McGregor because Justin Gaethje is now the number one contender waiting for his title shot,” Cormier said in a video posted on his YouTube channel. “If there’s one thing that can solidify his eligibility for a title fight, it’s a win over Conor McGregor.”

In a recent interview, the Irishman stated that Gaethje would be his next opponent after Chandler, and Cormier believes that the American should not turn down the opportunity if it does happen.

“If I were Justin Gaethje, it was logical to say, ‘I’m not going to fight a guy on steroids,’ but if he gets the opportunity and USADA tests Conor, why not? Justin is a fantastic fighter, and his performance against Dustin Porier showed that he’s still improving. A McGregor vs. Gaethje fight would blow the doors off any arena, and Justin Gaethje is a guy who isn’t afraid of anything Conor McGregor has to offer”

According to currently available information, the Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight is scheduled to headline the UFC 296 event in Las Vegas on December 16, which the world’s strongest league will use to close out the current year.
