Daniel Cormier: “Shevchenko repeated Weidman’s mistake”

Daniel Cormier:

Former dual UFC champion Daniel Cormier is not the first to see the mistake that cost Valentina Shevchenko the UFC flyweight belt.

“I never thought that I would see how Valentina Shevchenko makes mistakes over and over again,” Sportskeeda quotes the American. “She made mistakes in the previous fight against Taila Santos, trying to land unprepared takedowns, and she made mistakes today against Alexa Grasso. Her biggest mistake was trying to land a close range roundhouse kick.”

“The last person to do this was Chris Weidman, who tried a reckless roundhouse kick on Luke Rockhold, allowed himself to be transferred and was slaughtered, resulting in Luke becoming the champion. The same thing happened today. When Grasso saw the roundhouse kick they were preparing for, she jumped on Valentina’s back and did everything to finish her off.

Recall that the women’s title fight, which became the second most important event of the UFC 285 tournament, ended at around 4:34 of the fourth round with the victory of Alexa Grasso by rear naked choke.

After the fight, Valentina Shevchenko announced that she was counting on an immediate revenge, and the Mexican promised to give Pula such an opportunity.
