Daniel Cormier: “Rodriguez can’t beat Volkanovski in his arms”

Daniel Cormier:

Former dual UFC champion Daniel Cormier believes Yair Rodriguez should be kicking hard if he wants to defeat Alexander Volkanovski this weekend to unify the interim and current UFC featherweight titles.

“This guy is very thorough,” Cormier said in yet another video posted on his YouTube channel. “The fighting IQ combined with his skills makes Alex Volkanovski a great fighter. He solved a puzzle like Max Holloway and climbed very high. It’s rare to find a short guy who has such counter-attacking abilities.”

“Yair Rodriguez has to do something extremely special this weekend because if he decides to force things and go ahead, he will be in big trouble. He has to use kicks like he did against Josh Emmett. Hands will not save Yair Rodriguez. If he tries to kill Alex in his arms, he will face the fate of Holloway in the third duel. He will have to use his legs, but here lies another problem, because Volkanovski knows how to fight.

Recall that the title fight between Volkanovski and Rodriguez will head the UFC 290 tournament, which will be held July 8 in Las Vegas.
