On Tuesday, Velasquez was granted bail at $1 million ahead of the start of his trial later this month.

Like most of the MMA world, Velasquez was delighted to be able to reunite his family.

“It’s great for him and his family,” White said TMZ . “Cain Velasquez is a good man, he’s a good person, and I’m hoping the judge that looked at this case said, ‘You know what? The family has been through enough .’

” As if they didn’t have enough to grieve, their father died almost one year ago. We hope that justice is done in this case and Cain Velasquez, who was a great man, father, husband, and a wonderful person, gets home with his family .”

During the alleged incident, Velasquez is accused of wounding Goularte’s stepfather Paul Bender, who suffered non-life threatening injuries. Velasquez will return to court on November for an appearance.

Velasquez may be sentenced to life imprisonment if convicted of the premeditated killing charge.
