Dana White cleared the air on the Aspinall and Pereira fight

The head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White, has assessed the likelihood that the next opponent of UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall will be Alex Pereira, who holds the light heavyweight title.

“I’m not thrilled with the idea,” said the head of the organization. “Alex just came up to flyweight. He’s got a belt to defend, something to do. Both of these guys need a good workout before they think about fighting each other.”

Two days earlier, the British heavyweight said he would be willing to face the Brazilian on April 13 at the UFC 300 anniversary event in Las Vegas if he asked for the fight.

Both fighters won their titles last November at UFC 295 in New York, where Tom Aspinall knocked out Russian Sergey Pavlovich in 69 seconds and Alex Pereira finished Czech Jiri Prohazka by TKO in the second round.

Alex Pereira and Tom Aspinall are currently ranked fifth and twelfth in the organization’s top fighters regardless of weight class.
