Dana White called the Ferguson vs. Pimblett fight perfect

The head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White, disagrees with fans who think it’s not the best idea to set up a fight between Tony Ferguson and Paddy Pimblett to take place on Dec. 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas.

“A lot of people think Paddy hasn’t proven himself properly yet, and I think a lot of people think this fight is not as difficult for Tony as his previous fights,” White said at a press conference in Las Vegas. “I’m convinced it’s a superb matchmaking and superb timing for the fight – it would be hard to do anything more perfect.”

“If you watch Tony’s last few fights, you’ll see that he’s looked pretty damn good up to a point, like in the Chandler fight. In the last two or three fights, he looked damn good until the very end. So, it’s an exciting and interesting fight between two very entertaining characters.”

As a reminder, 39-year-old Tony Ferguson is riding a six-fight losing streak, while 28-year-old Paddy Pimblett has reeled off six straight wins, four of which have been scored under the UFC banner.
