Russian-Kazakh lightweight Damir Ismagulov, who last weekend lost by unanimous decision to his compatriot Arman Tsarukyan at UFC Fight Night 216 in Las Vegas, summed up the fight and also called the reason for the unsuccessful performance.

“Regarding the fight, you all saw that I was not myself. Unfortunately, the disease did not allow me to recover normally, to perform normally. Perhaps it was necessary to withdraw from the fight, it was hard, but the nature of the fighter did not allow it. But no excuses – I came out, fought to the end, I was ready to win, but, unfortunately, it didn’t work out, and the fight was lost. ”
Ismagulov also commented on the incident after the fight, when he left the octagon without shaking hands with his opponent.
“Yes, I left, did not shake hands, but this is not a sign of disrespect. It’s just that I don’t like to lose, and I left because I was upset. Then Arman and I talked, and I congratulated him. Therefore, only respect – he is a good athlete, shows a good result, and is a top. In the 23rd year, if there is a second chance, I am sure that the fight will be completely different. I know myself, I know my level, and I am still confident in myself, but here my self-confidence played not in my favor. Maybe I should have taken it off.”
