The heavyweight bout between Cyril Gan and Sergey Spivak will be the main event of UFC Fight Night 227 on September 2 in Paris.
The organization of the fight was officially announced by the President of the UFC, Dana White.
Last September, Cyril Gan headlined the organization’s first French event, UFC Fight Night 209, in the main event of which he knocked out Australian Tai Tuivasa in the third round. In March, the 33-year-old Frenchman made an unsuccessful attempt to win the vacant UFC championship belt, losing in two minutes by guillotine choke to Jon Jones.
28-year-old Sergei Spivak, representing Moldova, is on a series of three early victories, in the last fight he finished in the first round with Derrick Lewis’ arm triangle choke.
Currently, Cyril Gan and Sergey Spivak occupy the first and eighth lines in the UFC heavyweight division rankings, respectively.
