Cormier had some advice for Pereira regarding his fight with Ancalaev

Current UFC bantamweight titleholder Alex Pereira should not accept a fight with the division’s No. 3 contender, Magomed Ankalaev, according to former UFC bantamweight champion and commentator for the world’s strongest league, Daniel Cormier.

“Pereira said, ‘I’m going to fight Jamal Hill.’ When he saw how Jan Blachowicz was down after he kicked the legs off of Magomed Ankalaev, he realized there was no need to deal with that dude right now. This is a fight that Pereira should put on hold for later. Considering Jiri Prohazaka has been successfully transitioning him, Ankalaev looks like the worst possible option for Pereira out of all options”

Last November at UFC 295 in New York City, former UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira won the vacant UFC light heavyweight title by defeating former division champion Jiri Prohazka by technical knockout in the second round.

Magomed Ankalaev won a potential contender’s bout two weeks ago, knocking out Johnnie Walker in the second round before signaling his availability to face the champion on April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas.
