Conor McGregor is not interested in Islam Makhachev’s title

According to Islam Makhachev, who will share the octagon with Dustin Puryear in a week, he is ready to go on a title defense against Conor McGregor in September, however, the UFC lightweight champion belt is not too interested in the Irish fighter.

“I look at all these belts, and I’ve held the lightweight title before – how interested do I have to be in a fight for me to chase weight again for something I’ve already won?” MMA Fighting quoted the former UFC double champion as saying. “I’d be thrilled with a BMF title, and I’d be thrilled with a welterweight title. We’ll see how it plays out.”

“I think the UFC should come up with a McGregor belt, some kind of money title. They should come up with something for me. Because all these things were created with my help.”

Recall that the UFC welterweight title is held by Briton Leon Edwards, who will defend the belt against American Belal Muhammad on July 27 at UFC 304 in Manchester, while the BMF title is held by McGregor’s former rival Max Holloway, who took the belt from Justin Gaethje.

As for Conor McGregor, he will return to the octagon on June 29 at UFC 303 in Las Vegas, and his opponent will be American Michael Chandler, whom he will fight at welterweight.
