Former double UFC champion Conor McGregor, who attended a boxing night in Dubai in the company of Petr Yan, is looking forward to the former UFC lightweight titleholder’s return to the octagon and has no doubts that the Russian will be able to regain the championship belt.
“Peter Yan is a phenomenal fighter to represent Russia,” the Irishman said when speaking to the press at a boxing night in Dubai. “He’s a former UFC champion and I want to see him come back. I’m sure he will regain his championship gold and I’m looking forward to that.”
Peter Yan is scheduled to fight next on March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami, and has already received a challenge from China’s Song Yadong, who defeated American Chris Gutierrez a few hours ago at UFC Fight Night 233 in Las Vegas.
Conor McGregor is rumored to headline the UFC 300 anniversary event scheduled for April, and his opponent should be American Michael Chandler, ranked fifth in the UFC lightweight division rankings.
