Conor McGregor has announced a fight with Michael Chandler

Former UFC double champion, Conor McGregor, has announced that his fight against Michael Chandler will be the main event of UFC 296, which takes place on December 16 in Las Vegas.

The Irish fighter made the announcement on social media, posting the following screenshot.

This information is most likely not true, as it is highly doubtful that the world’s strongest league has instructed McGregor to announce the final numbered event of the current year in such a manner.

As recently as a week ago, the Irishman announced that his fight with the American, scheduled for later in the year, would not take place because the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to allow him to fight without a clearance from the American Anti-Doping Agency, which insists on a six-month doping testing period.

As a reminder, McGregor and Chandler took part in the filming of TUF season 31, with the final bouts taking place a week earlier at UFC 292 in Boston.
