Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler fight is in doubt

Conor McGregor’s New Year’s Eve announcement that he will fight Michael Chandler in a middleweight bout on June 29 in Las Vegas is not true.

This was reported by prominent sports columnist Aaron Bronsteter, citing UFC CEO, Dana White.

“Dana White has indicated that Conor McGregor will fight this year, but his opponent, return date, and weight class have not been confirmed at this time,” the reporter wrote on social media.

Conor McGregor, 35, plans to return to the octagon three years after his final trilogy matchup with Dustin Puryear, in which he suffered a severe leg fracture, while Michael Chandler, 37, who is ranked fifth in the UFC’s lightweight rankings, has not competed since last November, when he lost to “The Diamond” by rear-naked choke in the third round.

In a recent interview, the American fighter promised to avenge the Irishman’s long wait, but perhaps the former Bellator champion won’t get that opportunity.
