Colby Covington replied to Islam Makhachev

UFC welterweight number two, Colby Covington, announced as the next contender for the championship belt, responded to Islam Makhachev, who said that in his next fight he wants to challenge Leon Edwards, who holds the title in the weight category up to 77 kilograms.

“I started laughing when I saw what that little down said,” Chaos told Submission Radio. “Bro, you just got beaten up by little Alexander Volkanovski at featherweight and are you going to move up to welterweight where real men fight?”

“Everyone understands that his manager wrote this, and he thinks that in this way they will be able to get around me, but this will not happen. Makhachev will have to stay at lightweight. Defend your title first, because before that you fought a featherweight, a small midget, and got beaten by him.

“I don’t pay too much attention to it, I think it’s just talk. These undersized wrestlers are always talking about coming up to welterweight, but they’re really just hype and none of them want to fight in the big guy division. So let him stay in his junior weight class and do what he does best.”

Last weekend at UFC 286 in London, Leon Edwards successfully defended the UFC welterweight championship belt, defeating Kamara Usman in a title rematch by a majority vote, after which UFC President Dana White confirmed the contender status of Colby Covington, who secured the title fight.

A few days earlier, the strongest league in the world announced the UFC 294 autumn tournament in Abu Dhabi, in which Islam Makhachev, who holds the championship belt in the lightweight category, will fight his next fight.
