Colby Covington pissed off Leon Edwards with one phrase.

UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington managed to piss off the division’s reigning champion, Leon Edwards, by mentioning the Briton’s late father, who was murdered in a London nightclub twenty years ago, at a press conference for UFC 296.

“Saturday night I’m going to take you to a place you never wanted to be,” said “Chaos,” who came to the event wearing an American military uniform from the War of Independence. “I’m going to take you to the seventh circle of hell. You tell ‘how’s it going?’ to your daddy when we get there.”

Edwards launched a bottle at his opponent and jumped up from his seat, but security immediately intervened to prevent the fighters from getting into a melee before the time was up.

However, the Brit said the fight has not become more personal for him, but made it clear he is willing to continue the dialog behind the scenes.

“I can’t say the fight is personal to me,” the UFC champion said. “This guy is a piece of de**k. Let him show the same energy backstage.”

Recall that the UFC 296 tournament, the main event of which will be the title clash of welterweights, will be held on December 16 in Las Vegas and will be the last event of the strongest league of the world in the current year.
