Colby Covington made a statement about his fight with Shavkat Rakhmonov

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington has commented on rumors that the organization’s matchmakers are currently working on his fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov, which is scheduled for this June.

According to the American, this information is not true, as he is still nursing the leg he broke in his previous fight against Leon Edwards.

“No, I have not been offered any fights, not with Rakhmonov or anyone else,” “Chaos” told Submission Radio. “How can I be offered a fight if I’m still walking around in an orthopedic boot? I can’t think about fighting until I’m 100 percent healthy. Right now, I’m 60 percent healthy. How can the UFC offer me a fight if they are aware of what’s going on and are paying me for the best medical treatment possible? So no, I have not been offered any fights – this is completely fake news. Right now I can’t walk or train.”

To back up his words, “Chaos” showed X-rays of the broken foot he allegedly injured in the first minute of the title fight.

Covington also said that he will not need surgery and that he plans to return to the octagon this summer, at the same time promising to shock the world again.

Recall that the title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington, which headlined UFC 296 in Las Vegas on December 16, went the full distance and ended with a unanimous decision victory for the reigning champion.

Shavkat Rakhmonov picked up his sixth early victory in the UFC at the same event, finishing Stephen Thompson with a rear-naked choke in the second round.
