Colby Covington gave the reason for the loss and his next opponent

After losing to Leon Edwards in a clash for the UFC welterweight title, American fighter Colby Covington is convinced that the reason for the defeat was his political views.

“I think the third, fourth and fifth rounds were on me,” “Chaos” said at the press conference following UFC 296. “He didn’t do any damage to me. I was sure I did enough to win, but the judges never favored me. They hate me because I support Trump and everybody in this building today hated Trump, which is what it is. But life goes on.”

Covington wants his next opponent to be fellow countryman Stephen Thompson, who lost by rear-naked choke in the second round to Shavkat Rakhmonov in the event’s third main event.

“There’s a guy who’s been saying a lot of de*** about me in the media – that’s Stephen “Vanderboegh” Thompson. Everybody thinks he’s a good guy, but he’s said a lot of de*** about me and I’d like him to say it to me in the octagon”

Recall that the title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington, headlining the final numbered event of the world’s strongest league this year, went the full distance and ended with the reigning champion winning by unanimous decision with a score of 49-46 three times.
