Colby Covington Explains Khabib Nurmagomedov's Decision

UFC welterweight number two Colby Covington explained why Khabib Nurmagomedov decided to end his career without trying his hand at a heavier weight class.

“Khabib didn’t move up to welterweight because of me,” Sportskeeda quotes the American. “He didn’t want to fight this man, he knew that this man had a great style to counter him, that he was more versatile, could handle his takedowns, and at the same time would be constantly in his face and strike without breaking on cardio. I’m the best at this, and I would put him down, there’s no doubt about that.”

Covington, who was named the next contender for the UFC welterweight championship last weekend, advised Islam Makhachev to forget about the fight against Leon Edwards and focus on defending the lightweight title, which the Russian currently holds.
