Former UFC flyweight champion Cody Garbrandt will have his next fight on December 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas, and the American’s opponent will be his compatriot Brian Kelleher.
Informed sources close to the situation said about the organization of the fight.
In March of this year, Garbrandt put his career back on track with a unanimous decision win over Trevin Jones. Prior to that, the former UFC champion had suffered two straight losses, losing by unanimous decision to Rob Font, and losing by technical knockout to Kai Kara-France. In August, Garbrandt was injured and pulled out of the lineup for UFC 292, where he was scheduled to face Mario Bautista.
Brian Kelleher, 37, is riding a streak of two early losses, having lost by rear-naked choke in the first rounds to Umar Nurmagomedov and Mario Bautista.
