Coach Poirier: ‘Dustin has the best record in the lightweight division since Khabib left’

Mike Brown, trainer of UFC lightweight fighter Dustin Poirier, shared his expectations for the fight with Charles Oliveira.

“This is the top of the food chain – the fight for the first place in the world, and we go into it with confidence in our own abilities,” MMA trainer Junkie is quoted as saying. “Dustin has fought at that level before. With Khabib Nurmagomedov retired, Dustin has the best record in the lightweight division. He is the best and proves it time and time again. I believe he will win.”

Brown also cited Oliveira’s strengths.

“Oliveira is very dangerous – he can force anyone to surrender, so there are certain moments of increased danger where we will need to proceed carefully. Charles has a lot of experience and has been in many situations, just like Dustin. But I think Poirier beat opponents of a higher level, ”he added.

Poirier currently has 35 mixed martial arts fights, 28 wins and 6 losses.

The fight between the lightweights will take place on December 11 and will headline UFC 269 in Las Vegas.
