Coach Cyril Gan called Sergei Pavlovich a likely opponent

Former interim UFC heavyweight champion Cyril Gan plans to return to the octagon in September of this year and would like to see second-ranked Russian Sergey Pavlovich as his next opponent in the division.

This was stated in an interview with MiddleEasy by the French coach Fernand Lopez.

“We plan to return in September,” the specialist said. “Sergey Pavlovich would be an excellent opponent”

Thus, coach Cyril Gan made it clear that his ward does not plan to fight in July with Tom Aspinall, who should lead the next British event of the organization.

In March of this year, Cyril Gan made an unsuccessful attempt to win the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt, losing in two minutes by guillotine choke to Jon Jones, and Sergei Pavlovich won his sixth stoppage in a row in April, finishing with a technical knockout in the first round of American Curtis Blades.

At the moment, the Russian puncher is considered the main candidate for a fight with the winner of the championship fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, who should head the UFC tournament in New York in November.
