UFC on ESPN 31 tournament bout
The fight will take place on December 5 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex complex and will be one of the main ones at the UFC on ESPN 31 (or UFC Vegas 44) tournament. Estimated start of the battle – 06:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
UFC lightweight veteran Clay Guida (36-21) will welcome world-class titled grappler Leonardo Santos (18-4-1) into the octagon.
Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Guida is nearing the end of his career. The 39-year-old fighter has lost four of his last six fights. This year, Guida fought twice: in February, he defeated Michael Johnson by unanimous decision, and in August lost a split decision to Mark Madsen.
Santos is generally 41 years old and should also close the defeat. In March of this year, Grant Dawson knocked out the Brazilian in the last second of the fight, thus inflicting his first defeat in the UFC. Until that point, Santos’ record in the promotion was 7-0-1, including a knockout win over Kevin Lee.
Prediction for the fight
Guida and Santos have always relied on their ground skills. However, Santos is much better as a grappler, and in the stand he may lose to Guida from a purely technical point of view, but, unlike his opponent, he has a knockout punch and generally looks fresher, despite being two years older.
Guida in some episodes can beat Santos in the standing position, but in general, the Brazilian should not be inferior on the feet. But as for the ground floor, Santos has a good chance to finish Guida there.
Santos won by submission in the 1st round
