Heavyweights Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa have agreed to meet at an upcoming UFC event on Sept. 3 with the promotion targeting Paris, France for the potential location.

Multiple people who were aware of the plans for the promotion confirmed that the information was available to MMA Fighting Wednesday. ESPN first reported the matchup.

While the location isn’t officially set yet, the UFC is looking at Paris as a dream landing spot for the fight as Gane would compete at home in the first ever event for the promotion in France. The UFC is still working on the exact location, but France remains the main target.

The fight would serve as a matchup between two of the best heavyweights in the UFC after Gane served as interim champion just recently before falling to former teammate Francis Ngannou in a title unification bout back in January.

Prior to this setback Gane was undefeated at the UFC, with five straight wins including a TKO against Derrick Lewis. This earned him the interim title.

In the meantime, Tuivasa is looking to add another win after collecting five consecutive knockouts that helped him climb up to the top of heavyweight. Recent performances of the night included a second round victory over Lewis by Tuivasa.

Now Tuivasa faces Gane in September, with the winner moving closer towards title contention.
