UFC 261 tournament bout

The fight will take place on the night from Saturday to Sunday, April 25. Approximate start of the battle is 05:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will take on once-top prospect Uriah Hall in a cage.

In 2010, Wideman inflicted the first loss of his career on Hall, finishing with punches in the first round and reclaiming the Ring of Combat middleweight title. Their rematch was scheduled to take place in February at UFC 258, but Chris’ positive test for COVID-19 led to the cancellation of the fight.

Wideman lost five of his six fights by knockout from December 2015 to October 2019, the last of which he climbed to light heavyweight to be sent to the KO by Dominick Reyes in less than two minutes. In August 2020, Wideman returned to middleweight and won a unanimous decision against Omari Akhmedov.

Hall, after losing by knockout to Paulo Costa in July 2018, had three fights and won them all. After knocking out Bevon Lewis and squeaking through the points of António Carlos Junior, in October 2020, Hall ended the career of the legendary Anderson Silva in the UFC, finishing the Brazilian with strikes in the 4th round.

Prediction for the fight

Wideman is still a strong fighter with good standing skills. But his chin has often failed him lately, so hitting drummers are a great danger to him. Hall is one of them. He is an excellent karate puncher, he is not very strong on the ground, but he defends well against takedowns.

If Wideman and Hall aren’t passive, there’s a good chance their fight won’t last the full 15 minutes. Wideman will probably try to take his opponent to the ground, while Hall will fight on the stand. We predict that the defense against transfers from the Jamaican will not misfire, and as a result, one or more of his blows will lead to a knockout of the ex-UFC champion.
