A fan favorite heavyweight fighter is about to make his debut octagon appearance in 2022.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Chris Barnett and Martin Buday is set for the UFC’s event on April 16 at a location and venue yet to be announced. Eurosport was first to report the booking.
After a loss to Ben Rothwell during his promotion debut, Barnett returned in big fashion with a “Performance of the Night” and a win over Gian Villante in UFC 268.. His exciting fight style at Madison Square Garden was not enough to make “Beastboy” a memorable night. He also delighted fans with his dance routine and post-fight party. The 35-year-old has victories in three of his last four.

Buday will make his octagon debut. To earn his 8th consecutive victory and UFC contract, “Badys”, defeated Lorenzo Hood in round 1. Buday’s lone pro loss came to fellow UFC heavyweight Juan Espino in October 2017 on the Spain regional scene.
