Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York, USA. Two American former super middleweight champions (up to 76.2 kg) met in the WBC eliminator: Caleb Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) knocked out Anthony Dirrell (34-3-2, 25 KOs).
Plant controlled the distance with a jab. Dirrell tried to counter, intercept. It did not work out – I tried to work on spurts. Also useless.
The duel turned out to be brighter than expected, because Dirrell went out obviously not to serve the number. Plant was refining the underdog, so he had to take the risk of throwing dangerous sweeping punches.
In the 9th round, Plant put a bright end to the fight:
