Multi-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen is facing 11 charges stemming from an alleged altercation in Las Vegas this past December.

According to court records online, Sonnen faces a felony battery-by-strangulation charge and 10 misdemeanor batteries charges. These were filed March 14.. TMZ reported the filings first.

After responding to a call from the Luxor Casino, Las Vegas Police issued Sonnen five misdemeanor tickets for the incident. It was later determined that there were five victims. The charges were dismissed by the court with no prejudice a little more than a month later. This means that they could be re-filed later. According to police, Sonnen was given the citations by the court and taken off Luxor’s property. However, he was not arrested nor placed in prison.

Per court records, Sonnen is scheduled for an initial appearance on April 27.

The 48-fight veteran ended his mixed martial arts career following a TKO loss to Lyoto Machida at Bellator 222 in June 2019. Sonnen’s heated feud with Anderson Silva, former UFC Middleweight Champion is well-known.

Since calling it a career, Sonnen has found success in analyst roles, and has been part of broadcasts for both the UFC and Bellator. In addition, the 44-year-old has been serving as a color commentator for Eagle FC.
