UFC Fight Night 199 tournament bout
The fight will take place on December 19 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex complex and will be one of the main ones at the UFC Fight Night 199 tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 02:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
The main card will feature a fight between lightweights Carlos Diego Ferreira (17-4) and Mateus Gamroth (19-1, 1 NC).
Ferreira lost his last two fights, which is why he dropped in the UFC rankings to 12th place. The Brazilian’s 6-match winning streak was broken in February 2021 by Beneil Dariush, who won the bout by split decision. In May, Ferreira was knocked out in the 2nd round by Gregor Gillespie. Note that during his winning streak, Ferreira defeated Rustam Khabilov, Mairbek Taysumov and Anthony Pettis.
Former KSW lightweight champion Gamrot suffered the only loss in his career in October 2020, making his debut in the UFC with a points loss to Guram Kutateladze. But the Pole won both of his fights this year. In April, he knocked out Scott Holtzman in the second round, and in July, he stopped Jeremy Stevens with a kimura in 65 seconds.
Prediction for the fight
In the octagon, two first-class BJJ black belt grapplers meet. But Ferreira is still more dangerous on the ground and will have a better chance of winning by submission if the fighters are on the ground.
But in the standing position, a younger and physically stronger Pole should have an advantage. Gamroth, due to his pressure, can break the not very skilled striker Ferreira. Gamroth has enough punching power to knock out Ferreira, who is not known for having a very strong chin.
