Mexican super middleweight champion Saul Canelo Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) has started training. His next fight will be on May 6th. Presumably will meet with his mandatory challenger British John Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs).

Canelo lost ground last year. An attempt to take away the WBA Super belt from the Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol ended in a painful defeat, and the third fight with the veteran antagonist from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin can hardly be considered a fighter either – he gave up the initiative in the decisive rounds, was satisfied with a victory on points.

According to the Mexican, he had been worried about his injured hand for a long time. Therefore, immediately after Golovkin, Alvarez was operated on. The Mexican showed that he had finally started training.

In the event of a convincing victory over Ryder, Canelo will try to beat Bivol on the second attempt – a rematch is tentatively scheduled for September. It seems that this time they will fight in super middleweight – the Russian will get a chance to take away the title of absolute world champion from the Mexican.

The other day, promoter Sampson Levkowitz (Sampson Boxing) declared that Canelo’s legacy would be tarnished forever. And his colleague Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn shared the latest news on Alvarez’s next fight.
