The WBA Super light heavyweight world champion (up to 79.4 kg) Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) commented on the words of the ex-champion from Ukraine Alexander Gvozdik, who said that his Mexican sparring partner Canelo Alvarez (58 -2-2, 39 KOs) boxed with Bivol, being injured, which could not but affect the final result of their fight in May of this year, which ended with Dmitry’s victory by decision of the judges.

The Russian does not exclude that this was exactly what happened, but this cannot serve as an excuse for Canelo.

“Our sport is called professional boxing. And we are given a certain date. And by that date, you should be better,” Bivol said. “You don’t have to be better today, tomorrow, or a day later than that date. You have to be better on this particular date, in these 36 minutes of the fight.”

“The one who came up (to the fight) in uniform becomes better,” Dmitry continues. – That is, it turns out that if nothing hurt me, it means that I am a better professional than Canelo was at that moment. And I won. And the fact that if these are some kind of injuries, or someone poisoned them, or a brick fell on your head, this already indicates that you are worse than your opponent, as a professional. You didn’t foresee some things.”

By the way, De La Hoya knows what Canelo needs to defeat Bivol.
