Star Mexican super middleweight Saul Canelo Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) failed to take away the WBA Super belt from Russian light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) in May of this year, but is going to do it in a rematch – such the clause was spelled out in the contract for the first fight.

Compatriot Canelo veteran coach Abel Sanchez does not believe that Alvarez will be able to beat the Russian: “Saul needs to stay at 76.2 kg. Especially since there are some hungry young lions at this weight who are hungry for the opportunity to box him. This is his ideal weight. Or medium, but definitely not light heavy. Light heavyweights are too big for Canelo. So I’d rather see Alvarez fight young talented super middleweights.”

Sanchez pays tribute to Bivol, recalling that “this is an extremely tough fight for Canelo. Not only for the reason that the Russian is bigger and performs in his native weight. And also because stylistically it is very uncomfortable for Canelo. As for me, Bivol is ready to box with the most stylistically different opponents. He’s already adapted to it. He knows how to win. Canelo took a chance, but Bivol was too tough for him. I won’t criticize Saul as all great champions have taken risks and accepted challenges at a non-native weight. And he not only took such a fight, but also went up against one of the strongest. ”

Rumor has it that the Bivol vs. Canelo rematch could take place at the super middleweight limit. Sanchez is not sure about this: “I doubt that Dimitri will be able to make this weight. 79.4 kg is his ideal weight category. And Canelo?.. Canelo is too small to wear it.”

And Sanchez also believes that Bivol is a great Golovkin, but it’s not a fact that Beterbiev is tough for him.
