The UFC’s No. 10 ranked welterweight, Bryce Mitchell, has agreed on short notice to replace the injured Gigu Chikaze and face Josh Emmett on Dec. 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas.

The replacement was reported by informed sources close to the situation.

Josh Emmett, 38, ranked sixth in the division’s rankings, has lost two fights in a row, suffering an early defeat in his interim title fight with Yair Rodriguez and losing by unanimous decision to Elijah Topuria. Prior to his fight with Rodriguez, Emmett had won five fights in a row, most recently defeating Kelvin Kattar by split decision.
