Black Beast will headline a UFC tournament in Brazil

Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis will replace the eliminated Curtis Blades and face Jailton Almeida in the main event of UFC Fight Night 231 on Nov. 4 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The substitution was reported by informed sources close to the situation. There is no information yet on why “Razor” has pulled out of the bout.

This past July, 38-year-old Derrick Lewis closed out a streak of three early losses by finishing Marcos Rogerio de Lima by technical knockout in 33 seconds. Prior to that, “The Black Beast” lost by knockouts to Ty Tuivasa and Sergey Pavlovich, and lost by arm-triangle choke to Sergey Spivak.

Jailton Almeida, 32, is riding a five-fight win streak in the UFC, finishing Jairzinho Rosenstrike by rear-naked choke in the first round in his last fight.

The Brazilian and American are currently ranked ninth and tenth in the UFC heavyweight rankings, respectively.
